Raymond Daniel “Dan” Lambert passed away Thursday October 10, 2019 of complications from lung cancer at the age of 80. He was born August 20, 1939 in New Orleans, LA, to the late Marietta L. Lambert and P.D. Lambert Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Grace Enos Lambert. He is survived by his son Steven Lambert, daughter- in- law Michelle Lambert, daughter Donna Lambert Carter and 4 grandchildren: Casey Lambert, Taylor Lambert (Michael Borkat), Daniel Carter, and LeAnn Carter, his sister Susan Lambert McKay and brother- in -law Ronald McKay. Dan was raised in Metairie, and was a native of New Orleans, LA. After marrying, he lived in River Ridge, LA, for 20 years. During that time he worked as an electrical contractor with his family’s business, Lambert Electric Company. He was most at home in the woods and marshes of south Louisiana. He grew up hunting and fishing with his father, uncles and cousins. Dan loved his time hunting and fishing so deeply, that in the mid 1980’s he & his late wife Mary made the family’s weekend get a way along the east bank of the Mississippi River, in Plaquemine parish, their permanent home. He was a charter fishing guide out of Point `a la Hache, La., where he had fished since his teen years. Beside hunting and fishing, he was also known for his citrus and crayfish businesses both of which he grew and raised on his property in Braithwaite, LA. He will mostly be remembered for his sense of adventure that kept him, his son Steve and many friends constantly busy with projects. He will be sorely missed by his family that he was devoted to his entire life, as well as many dear friends he made through the years. Theone Patricia Switzer Barr Meyer
A beloved mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, Theone Patricia Switzer Barr Meyer passed away at the age of 99. She was born in Belle Chasse, LA, on May 20, 1920. She attended Bogalusa High School, and was a graduate of Louisiana State University. She was a high school cheerleader and an active AOII sorority member at LSU. After graduating college, she worked for a bank in Beaumont, Texas and was active in the Texas Guardettes women civic support services organization prior to WWII. It was during this time that she married 2nd Lt Wallace W. Barr Jr. After the end of WWII, she worked as a schoolteacher and retired after twenty years of service from the Orleans Parish School System. As part of their retirement plans, they moved to Slidell, LA, in 1969, a year prior to Wallace’s death. Active in local civic organizations, she met and married Earl Howard Meyer. Patsie and Earl enjoyed traveling the world and being involved in church and community activities. While living in Slidell, Patsie Meyer was active in the Camellia Club, Le Cotillion, Lost Treasures Mardi Gras Club, and St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church where she served as a lector. She was preceded in death by her first husband Wallace W. Barr Jr. and second husband Earl H. Meyer; parents Edwidge and John Switzer; three sisters Edwidge (Bunch), Genevieve (Bill), Bessie (Bessy), and one brother John; three sons Wallace (Wally) Barr III, John (Jack) Barr, James (Jimmy) Barr, and one stepdaughter Pamela Jo Meyer Wang. She is survived by one son Robert Barr (Vivian) and two stepchildren Dawn Meyer Muscarello (Frank), and Earl Meyer II; niece Betty (Hines) Evans (Kent); grandchildren Yvette Barr, John Barr, Wallace Barr IV (Nicole), Sean Barr, Erin Barr Huddleston (Adam), Christopher Barr (Jennifer); stepgrandchildren Staci Wilson Sundmaker (Trey), Jennifer Maeci Wang France (Bruce), Jonathan Zhou Wang (Xuan), Patrick Muscarello (Kim); fifteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy Jane Wertz Mitchell of Kilgore, TX, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the age of 88. Dorothy was born to Forest E. and Evelyn J. Wertz in Borger, TX. Dorothy was the wife of the late Henry Edward Mitchell. Ruth Crabtree Halphen, a resident of Buras, LA, passed away on November 3, 2019 at River- bend Nursing Home at the age of 89. Born October 29, 1930, in Seminole, OK. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger Joseph Halphen, Jr.; her parents, Ina M. and Charles S. Crabtree, mother-in law Helen Zuvich Halphen and father-in-law Roger Halphen Sr. along with her siblings Alice, Sue, Clara, Mildred, Frank, James and Sister in law Martha Halphen Seaux. She is survived by her sister Kay, brothers-in-law Donald Halphen, and Robert (Bob) Halphen (Barbara) along with her children Charles W. Allen (Brigette), Steve Vice, Roger J. Halphen III, and Leann Newman (Chad). She had four grandchildren, Charley Allen (Tara), Caycee Francis, Jake Newman and Alex Newman along with three great-grandchildren, Mary Kaitlyn Kimbrough, Murphey McGhee Allen, and Mariyah Lauren Francis. She also left a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with friends and former co-workers. A very spiritual lady, she liked to read, watch a good movie, TV, and work in her yard and house. Ruth worked for the late Dr. William Barrett and later retired from the Buras Library. Dana Louis Hanning, Sr., a retired refinery operator passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019, at Ochsner Medical Center-Main Campus at the age of 71. Mr. Hanning was a native of New Orleans and a residence of Belle Chasse, LA. He attended St. Catherine of Siena, Archbishop Rummell High School, LSU and UNO. He was member of the Kiwanis Club. Beloved husband of Cynthia Ruiz Hanning. Loving father of Dana Jr. (Mimi) Hanning, Mickey (Beth) Hanning and Randy (Hillary) Hanning. Brother of Susan Regan (Raymond) and Peggy Day (Kevin). Stepfather of Terri Sercovich, Kathryn (Dennis) Bonvillian and Chris (Carley) Sercovich. Grandfather of Teague, Beau, RJ, Claire, Nora and Foster. Uncle of Stephanie Pineda (Norman), Ray Regan, Sy Urrehman and Ty Urrehman. Great-uncle of CC, Hank, Avery and Jack. Son of the late Marie Chastant Hanning and Louis Charles Hanning. Dana was kind, generous, loving, welcoming, adventurous, funny and so much more. He was hard-headed, but soft hearted. He loved his family, friends and dogs, Roux and Bleu. He doted on kids, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved to make people laugh through storytelling and jokes especially about his own nose. He will be truly missed by so many and left this world too early but his memory, smile, laugh and famous phrases will last forever. Daniel Edward Levasseur departed this life on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at his home in Belle Chasse, LA, at the age of 65. He was a native and lifelong resident of Belle Chasse. He was a retired Lead Operator for Chevron Chemical Plant in Belle Chasse. Son of the late Lynn Joseph and Elizabeth Hueval Levasseur. Devoted husband of Lenora Jean Elkins Levasseur. Beloved father of Shaun Joseph Levasseur. Stepfather of Nina Lynn and William Cascio. Grandfather of Zaiden, Seth Joseph and Finley Joseph Levasseur. Beloved wife of Mitchell Parker, Jr.; daughter of the late James H. and Bessie J. Causey; devoted mother of Nikomii (William) Butler, Gavin (Kricket) Parker; loving grandmother of Christian Malbrue, William Jr., Daniel, and Nathaniel Butler; Elgin Armstrong, Zavier, Essence, Zarion, Gavin, and Kinsley Parker; survived by two sisters, Pamela Gray and Tammie (Amara) Konaté, a host of sisters and brothers-in-law, and many other loved ones.
