Brian Rodney Bubrig was taken by his Lord and Savior on February 10, 2019 into one of the many mansions Jesus had prepared for him in His Father’s house (Jn. 14:2-3), at the age of 83. Brian was born on January 23, 1936 to Ruth O’Brien and William “Bill” Bubrig who predeceased him, as did his sister, Billy Lynn Jones (Derwood) and his son, Brian Douglas Bubrig. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of thirty years, Betty Morel Bubrig, son Michael Dwain Bubrig, daughter Celeste B. Cappiello and stepdaughter Heather N. LeBlanc, M.D. Additionally, he is survived by the mother of his children, Jacqueline Cain (John), as well as grandchildren Kayla B. Hingle (Paul), Michael Bubrig, Blake Cappiello (Brittney), and Lindsay Cappiello Stein (Adam) and great grandchildren Lorelai Hingle, Cooper Cappiello, Ellie Stein and Emerson Stein. Other survivors include his brother Darryl W. Bubrig, Sr. (Reba), sister-in-law Sandra Morel (Wayne Hingle) and many nieces and nephews. A native and lifelong resident of Plaquemines Parish, Brian was born in Boothville, La. where he attended grade school and graduated from Buras High School in 1954. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Following graduation in 1958 he began working as a Deputy Assessor under legendary Tax Assessors Dewey Cognevich and H. B. “Barney” Schoenberger. In 1969, his apprenticeship complete, he acceded to the office of Plaquemines Parish Tax Assessor where he served with impeccable distinction until 1981. During his tenure there he was a member and past president of the Louisiana Assessor’s Assn. and a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers. Brian was a longtime resident of Nairn, LA, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends at the family camp at Port Eads, working in his citrus orchard and gardening. He especially enjoyed traveling with his family whether on cruises, escorted tours or motoring about in the motor home. Brian invested himself in his community. He was a past cub scout leader; a charter member of the Empire Citizens Organization; a charter member and past president of the Plaquemines South Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris fellow; a member of the Plaquemines Parish Economic Development Board; a member of the Crescent City Connection Task Force; a member of the Plaquemines Parish Home Rule Charter Commission; a member of the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival by which he was honored in 1981 as Orange King. Brian was an active parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Port Sulphur, La. where he served as a member of the church council. More significantly, though, he was instrumental in the church’s restoration and recovery following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. In recognition of his devotion to the Church by contributing his time and talents as a lay person, he received the Order of St. Louis Medal from the Archdiocese of New Orleans. For forty-seven years Brian assisted residents of lower Plaquemines as a State Farm Insurance agent. He also served as President of Nairn Enterprises, Inc. and Brian Bubrig Coastal, Inc. and was a member of the Plaquemines Association of Business and Industry. He had been a member of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi River Bank for thirty years for which he was serving as Secretary at the time of his passing. Rhodes Vincent James passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the age of 81. He was born on September 8, 1937 in Plaquemines Parish to the late Carlo and Lena James. Rhodes was an employee of Avondale Shipyard for many years as an inspector, and, later on during his retirement, enjoyed his time spent as a hot-shot 2 ton driver for over ten years. Caitlyn Rayne Juneau passed away in Dulac, LA, on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the age of 6. She was born on November 12, 2012 in Alexandria, LA. Mitchell B. Jurisich, Sr.
Mitchell B. Jurisich, Sr., passed away on Wednesday February 13, 2019 at the age of 88. Mr. Jurisich was a native of Empire, LA and a lifelong resident. In addition, he was a secondgeneration oyster farmer, and a pioneer in the industry best known for Mitchell Jurisich Oysters. Mitchell was also a valued member of the Croatian Benevolent Association, the Louisiana Oyster Dealers and Growers Association and Knights of Columbus. He was also a proud Army Veteran. While in the Military, Jurisich was a boxer and won the Light Heavy Weight Championship of the 7th Division Army. Later, he loved teaching the children of Empire the Art of Boxing second only to his passion for the oyster industry. Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Neda Jurisich, and granddaughter Kennedy Ava Frelich. Survived by his sister Eva J. Vujnovich, his wife Mary Jurisich, and the mother of his children Barbara Jurisich. Children Mitch Jurisich (Lynn), Frank Jurisich (Sissy) and Amy Avery. Grandchildren: Heather Avery, Mark Avery, Nathan Jurisich (Jamie), Amber Jurisich, Frankie Jurisich Jr. (Kandace) ,and Jenna Jurisich. Three great grandchildren: Maddox Jurisich, Frankie Jurisich III, and McKenzie Jurisich. Step children: David Vallot, Blaine Vallot, Chris Vallot and Cory Vallot and their families. Michael Mims made his transition on Thursday Jan. 31, 2019. Clarence O. “Moose” Breland peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the age of 82. Michael John Kramer, Sr. was born in New Orleans on October 16, 1947 and left his place on earth on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the age of 71. He was a native of New Orleans, LA, lifelong resident of Port Sulphur, LA and resident of Geismar, LA. He was the beloved husband of his true love Vickie Dobson Kramer. He was the loving father of Michael Jr. (Rachel) and Bryan (Jamie). Michael was a proud and adoring grandfather of Julia, Kale, and Kolby. He is preceded in death by his father Edward Michael Kramer and his mother Sadie Dugries Chauvin. He was the loving brother of Kenneth Kramer and Christine Pace. He is survived by a host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was an avid sports fan with a particular love for the game of basketball. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army and Vietnam War in 1968. He lived life fully despite his struggle with Parkinson’s Disease for the past 40 years. He never allowed the disease to define him as a person. He enjoyed spending time restoring old cars, listening to his favorite music, and teaching life lessons through song lyrics. A free soul who enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren. An employee of Alliance Refinery for 32 years in which many friendships were made. She is the loving great- grandmother of 18 greatgrandchildren, Caitlyn, Nick, Isabella, Wade III, Jon III, Kaleb, Kaiden, Isabelle, Harrison, Max, Ford, Marley, Jade, Sophia, Jackson, Jameson, Abigail, and Benjamin. She is the cherished sister of Betty Orgeron Holley. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was retired a 22- year deputy supervisor radio dispatcher with Plaquemines Parish Sherriff’s Office in Port Sulphur, LA. She was also a past employee with Freeport Sulphur Company in Port Sulphur, LA. An avid gardener, she also enjoyed crossword puzzles, scrabble, RV camping all over the country, and enjoyed trying all sorts of international cuisines from all parts of the world. One of her favorite pastimes was keeping up with her family and friends on Facebook. Above all, her passion was spending quality time with her loving family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Linda Vullo Langridge passed from this life on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette, LA at the age of 75. She was married for 56 years to Harold J. Langridge, was a loving mother to Michael Langridge and Debbie Dragna, and was close to her children-in-law, Kelly Murphy Langridge and Charlie Dragna. She is also survived by her sister Bonnie Dillenkoffer, and one granddaughter and playmate, Ella Langridge. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Vullo and mother, Una Martin Barrois. Linda grew up in Happy Jack, Louisiana, raised her children in Belle Chasse, and spent her later years in Lafayette, where she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. The family would like to express its appreciation to her caregivers at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette and Dr. Gregory Riggs. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 2, at Calvary Baptist Church in Lafayette, and a Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey, Louisiana.
