Shirley Mae Bealer Francisco
Shirley Mae Bealer Francisco slipped away quietly and peacefully at her home in Belle Chasse on July 21, 2017, at the age of 88. Our hearts are broken as we prepare to lay to rest Shirley Mae Bealer Francisco, the matriarch of our family. So loved and cherished by all of us we are having a difficult time accepting what is reality. In her younger days, she worked at Belle Chasse High School, River Oaks Academy, and Balestra’s Food Market. When she retired, she rested at home watching TV, especially game shows and Criminal Minds. She worked crosswords and played games on her iPad and enjoyed reading Facebook. But her passion was reading mystery books … one after another. Thank you to Crystal & David Naiman for keeping her book supply going. Married to the love of her life for 42 years, the late Carl Francisco, and the mother of two children, the late Wayne Francisco and daughter Sharon Champagne (John). She referred to her son-in-law John as her “hero” as she could count on him to be there for whatever she needed. Her extensive family legacy includes grandchildren, Robin Lockwood (Harry), Michelle Wilcox (Will Jr), Chere’ Richards (James), John champagne Jr. (Kimberly), Wayne Francisco Jr. (Kaelynn), and Kate Goldberg (Matt). Great-grandchildren Seth & Sarah Lepine, Steven & Elizabeth Lockwood, Will III, Kassi, Kaylei, and Nickolas Wilcox, Emilee Abadie, Jack & Catherine Richards, Kalli Champagne, Keely & Kaeson Francisco, and Charlie Goldberg. Great-great-grandchildren, Karsyn Wilcox and Easton Hinyub. Family gatherings were always large and noisy to say the least. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Alma Bealer, sister of the late Rita Bianchini, and brother of the late Raymond Bealer. She dearly loved her best friend of many years, Leah Smith. Special thanks to Hally Ragas for bringing her the Eucharist weekly, which meant so much to her. Her devotion to the Blessed Mother lead her to recite the rosary often in a day. She was really a home body but she so enjoyed her travels to Hawaii. It was so serene and rejuvenating there. In Hawaii, it is tradition to treat the elderly with love and respect, and they treated her like a queen and she loved ever minute of it. A mass of Christian burial was held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Belle Chasse, visitation Tuesday, August 1, 2017. Interment will be private at a later date. Family and friends may view and sign the online guestbook at Mothe Funeral Home.
