Gladys Alma “Mush” Ceaser Blaise was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Being one of twelve children, Gladys was born to the union of the late Elie and Margaret Ceaser. She was the former wife of the late Lawrence A. Blaise, Jr. and to this union six children were born, Jonathan Blaise (Adrian), Mary B. Enclarde (the late Cornelius), Marie B. (Rodney) Lewis, Ronnie (Diana) Blaise, the late Jamerson (Stephanie) Blaise and Rickey (Alfreda) Blaise. Gladys raised three other children, her adopted daughter, Centrell Blaise (Richard) Morring, Corey (Joyce) Enclarde and the late Tyrone (Kawan) Blaise, Sr. Also survived by a brother, James Ceaser. Loving grandmother of twenty six grandchildren, fifty six great grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren, four Godchildren, four sisters in law, one brother in law and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gladys was also preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. Audrey Mae Capone Vinson, a woman of faith, a devoted wife and loving mother, passed from this life on June 19, 2017 at the age of 83. She was born on February 18, 1934. Audrey was married on August 14, 1954 to her lifelong partner of 47 years, Frank Charles Vinson who passed away on March 29, 2001. Both were long-time residents of Lake Charles, LA. She was the daughter of Joseph Capone Sr. of Donaldsonville, LA and Ruth Louise Fontenelle of Pointe a la Hache, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Joseph Capone Jr., Lawrence Capone Sr. and Michael Capone. Her surviving sibling is her sister, Ruth Beshel. Audrey is survived by five children; Frankie-Jo Mary Vinson Gray and husband, Bill, Carol Ann Vinson Snyder and husband, William, Ellen Ruth Vinson Harkins and husband, Brian, Charles Allen Vinson and wife, Ann, and Dan Patrick Vinson. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Grandchildren include Stephen Gray, Erin Grace, Travis Gray, Julia Snyder, Michael Harkins, Erica Harkins, Jessica Harkins, Rebecca Harkins, Ryan Vinson and Trey Valentine. Great grandchildren are Jenna Gray, William Gray, Charlie Grace, Marlowe Grace, Alina Gray, Ciera Hearn-Gray, Ella Rose Harkins, Evie Harkins, Alexander Harkins and Ryder Vinson. During Audrey’s early years while residing in Pointe-ala-Hache LA, she served as Deputy Clerk of Court for Plaquemines Parish and was an organist at St. Thomas Catholic Church. After moving to Lake Charles LA with her husband and family, she became a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and joined both the Church and Jubilate Choirs in addition to participating in the Marion Movement for Priest. It was here that Audrey and her family became acquainted with Monsignor Irving A. Deblanc, who grew to be a life-long friend and spiritual inspiration to the entire family. She was devoted to the Pro-Life Rosary prayer service and for 25 years participated in Hourly Adoration, both while a parishioner at Our Lady Queen of Heaven. She was a 30 plus year member of the Catholic Daughters of America, had served as Chairman of the Christian Women’s Club, and was a member of the Petroleum Wives Club, the Red Hat Society and the USA Council of Serra International Club. Friends of this remarkable woman attended a pre-funeral visitation on Thursday, June 22, 2017 with a scripture service and rosary said afterward at J.E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, LA. A service honoring her life with reflections by her children and grandchildren was also be held at the aforementioned location on Friday morning, June 23, 2017. Wilson Gilchrist Jr. passed away on May 26, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Carol Hughes Gilchrist, and his children Richard Gilchrist (Lisa), Stephanie Gilchrist-Delker (Rodney), Edward Aucoin, Darnell Aucoin-Lowry (Troy). He was proceeded in death by his parents Wilson Sr and Avis Gilchrist along with siblings Blanche, Cornelia, and Byron Sr. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara, Jeannie and Kathy along with 10 grand children, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired with Delta Air Lines with over 30 years of service. He was an avid lover of hunting and Nascar racing. He was passionate to teach others about investment opportunities. Since being diagnosed with cancer five years ago, Wheldon’s faith and trust in the Lord God strengthened him. He selflessly took on the role of performing everyday life chores; not because he was asked to, but because he chose to live in spite of cancer. He supported the love of his life, Angel, in any way he could. His wittiness and sense of humor, easy going and larger than life personality, infamous storytelling, thoughtfulness, kindness, and willingness to help anyone who crossed his path, will be missed by all who knew him. Richard A. “Dickie” Firmin, Sr.
Richard A. Firmin, Sr., a 26-year U.S. Military Veteran and native of Franklin, LA, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017, after a long struggle with multiple health issues at the age of 70. He was born on February 7, 1947. Richard was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps serving multiple deployments during the Vietnam War, doing double duty as a Gunnery Sergeant and a high skilled technician repairing shot-up helicopter’s that were damaged during combat missions. He later transferred to the Air Force where until his retirement he used his technical skills with the team that kept the F-15 Tactical Defense fighter aircraft on 24-hour readiness at the Belle Chasse Naval Air Station. He was a highly decorated soldier, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant, receiving multiple honors including the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy/ Marine President Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Air Force Achievement Medal. Dickie, as he is fondly known by family and childhood friends, is survived by his mother Mrs. Velta Rogers Firmin of Franklin, his brothers Johnny Firmin of Franklin, and Jim Firmin and his wife Yanming of Morgan City; four children, Debbie Siravo and her husband Jerry of Erie, CO; Richard Firmin Jr., of Fort Worth, TX, Regina Firmin of Morgan City, and Tanya Firmin of Gretna. He is also survived by his grandchildren Olivia Sanchez, Sarah Sanchez, Kristin Voisan, Michael Voisan, Austin Firmin, Haley Firmin, Richard Firmin III; and great-grandchild Brook Vining. In addition, he is remembered by his extended family of Jose Zaeton of Puerto Rica and Kristen Firmin of Fort Worth; and his friends, Big Joe Casey who was like a watchful brother to him, and Miranda who in recent time drove him to the places he needed to be, the both of them helping him to navigate the recent tumultuous seas of his health challenges. Dickie was preceded in death by his father, Lee C Firmin, Le Cajun Avec La Cravat Rouge. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 7, 2017, at Ibert’s Funeral Home in Franklin. Entombment with Military Honors took place in the Franklin Cemetery followed the funeral service. Brenda Ann Bulot, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on June 19, 2017 at the age of 70. She was born August 25, 1946 in Port Sulphur, Louisiana, to Sidney Joseph and Shirley Theresa (Pelas) Becnel. She is survived by her husband, Larry Bulot; sons, Barry Bulot and wife Pilar, Todd Bulot and wife Tracy; grandchildren, Sydney Bulot, Matthew Bulot, Amanda Bulot, Evan Bulot and Anna Bulot; sisters, Cindy Reppel and Wanda Blanchard; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Shirley Becnel. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 411 Paula Rd., McKinney, Texas. A reception was later held following the service at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway N., Allen, Texas.
