Nashawna Inett Renae Riley departed this life on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA, at the age of 14. She was a ninth grader at West Jefferson High School and a proud member of the Jr. R.O.T.C. Nashawna is the beloved daughter of Shawn W. Jackson and the late Kristina O. Riley. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents, several aunts, uncles, cousins, devoted friends and classmates who all loved Nashawna very much. June Reibert peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Howard Reibert. Daughter of the late Joseph Gravelle and Leona Timper Gravelle. Beloved mother of Nancy Erwin (Roswell) and the late Kenneth Charles Reibert. Grandmother of Robert Erwin (Beth), Paul Erwin, Dawn Erwin, Jonathan Erwin, Jason Reibert (Natalie) and Natalie Davis (Randy). Great Grandmother of Parker Davis, Zane Davis, Henry Reibert, Harrison Reibert, Gavin Erwin, Robert Erwin II, Bradly Grayson, Lexi Grayson and the late Infant Clara Reibert. Sister of Rose G. Richards and the late Samuel Guillot (Estelle) and Patricia G. Dillon (Thomas). Grandmother of Andrew, Jr. (Grace), Anthony (Earlene), Beth (Tony). Michael (Rose), Julie (Jason), Matthew (Richard), Denvil. Charles III, Curtis (Jacqueline), April, Adrian, Trey. Quentin B. Pridgen, passed away peacefully in Belle Chasse, LA on March 25, 2019 at the age of 53. He is the beloved husband of Ronda H Pridgen of 24 years. He is the loving father of Ashley Marie Pridgen and Quentin B. Pridgen II. He is the loving stepdad of Chris McNair (Elizabeth), Veronica Barattini (Ronnie), and Donald McNair Jr. (Mayu). He is the devoted grandfather of 13 Grandkids, Jayden, Noah, Trey, Kaila, Zach, Alyssa, Ben, Ally, Andrew, Matt, Peyton, Jay, and Kyan. He is the loving son of James A. and Janice J. Pridgen. He is the cherished brother of Pamela J. Pridgen, James A. Pridgen Jr, Jason A. Pridgen, Christopher S. Pridgen (Peggy), and Angela K. Pridgen (Christine). He is also survived by 2 nieces, 2 nephews, and a host of other family and friends. He is the proud owner of Muffler Clinic in Terrytown, LA. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Patricia Ann “Patsy” Todaro Thomassie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the age of 71. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony “Tony” Todaro and Amelia Balestra Todaro; her sister, Anna Gros; and her brother-in-law, Lloyd Boudreaux. Patsy is the beloved wife of 49 years of Antoine J. “Tony” Thomassie. She is the loving mother of Angela Mueller (Mossy) and Toni Lynn Thomassie. She is the devoted grandmother of Jacob Daniel Wooton and Madeline Patricia Niehaus. She is the cherished sister of Carolyn Boudreaux and Vanessa Leone (Wayne). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A 1965 graduate of West Jefferson High School, Patsy was the owner and CEO of Fire Mark Fire Equipment Company for over 25 years. She was also the first woman president of a volunteer fire department in the State of Louisiana (Marrero Estelle Volunteer Fire Department), and as far as known, the first in the country. She worked the crash of Pan Am Flight 759 after takeoff in Kenner, LA on July 9, 1982. She will be remembered as a caring, loving, and kind-hearted person and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Vivian Mae Frier Brown passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019, having lived a full life devoted to her family while always active in the community, at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. Charles Sheffield “Sheffie” Brown, with whom she moved too many times to count during 23 years of Marine Corp service. Vivian was the epitome of a dedicated officer’s wife able to have the boxes unpacked and curtains hung overnight so that each new location was a home and not just a house. Vivian was a devoted mom to her son, Goul “Brownie” Sheffield Brown, who predeceased her, and to her daughter, Belinda Brown Hazel (Donald). She was a doting grandmother to Amanda Hazel Dietz (Kevin), their children Charlie, Madeleine, and soon to be born Thompson; to grandson, Aubrey Sheffield Hazel (Charli), and their children Eli and Evie. Vivian was born January 16, 1925 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She is predeceased by her mother, Lolus Stark Frier, her father, Goul William Frier, older sister, Hazel Mercedes Day, and younger sister, Adela Lorene McKowen. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy “Mrs. Eldon” Brown and many nieces and nephews. Vivian graduated from LSU with degree in home economics and met Sheffie at her first teaching position at a school in his hometown. Vivian and Sheffie’s last move was a transfer to the Naval Air Station in Belle Chasse, where they chose Plaquemines Parish to be their home for the rest of their lives. Among the organizations Vivian was involved in during her lifetime were the Officers Wives Club, Delta Delta Delta alumni chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Belle Chasse Garden Club, Plaquemines Parish Historical Society, and was an active member of the Belle Chasse United Methodist Church. She enjoyed entertaining and gardening. It is with great sadness that the family of Vester Chandler announce his passing. Vester Chandler, resident of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, died on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Riverbend Nursing Home at the age of 83. Vester was born on March 28, 1936 in Carol County, GA. He moved to Plaquemines Parish in December of 1979 to pursue a career in construction and carpentry. He lent his skill and trade to build a lot of what exists in the parish today. He was a lover of Pepsi Cola and Red Man Chewing Tobacco; and he was a New Orleans Saints fan unless it was an Atlanta Falcon matchup. Vester was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and a very proud great-grandfather. His favorite time was any time spent with his family. He will be fondly remembered and forever missed by all of his loved ones. He is survived by his devoted wife, Virginia Chandler; sons Norman and Kerry Chandler; daughters, Bridget, Debbie, and Teresa Chandler. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his eldest son, Wesley Chandler. A prayer service was held at Consolation Baptist Church in Whitesburg, GA for immediate family. The Chandler family’s Pastor and longtime friend, Reverend C.E. Wilkie, lead the family in prayer. George F. Graham Jr. passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the age of 81. George is preceded in death by his parents, George F. Graham Sr. and Hellen Marie Graham-Boutte; and his beloved wife of 48 years, Ione Nichols Graham. He is survived by his daughter, Connie G. Garnes (Timothy) of Madisonville, LA; grandson, Jordan Graham Martinez (Stacy); great-grandchildren, Mason and Presley; sister, Cindy Boutte Cannizzaro (Mike); brother, Nol A. Boutte (Terry); as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. George proudly served his country as a member of the Louisiana Air National Guard, 122nd Fighter Group, Belle Chasse, LA from 1954-1958. He owned and trained thoroughbreds at the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Track, Evangeline Race Track, Jefferson Downs, Suffolk Downs, Mountaineer Park and Delta Downs. George was also a Steward and Louisiana Racing Commission Association Judge for 38 years. He was also a contractor, and built many homes in Belle Chasse. Earl Gerald Hingle, of Buras, LA, passed peacefully on March 29, 2019 at the Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond, Louisiana with his family by his side at the age of 83. Gerald was born June 5, 1935 to Earl Van Hingle and Fannie Pelas Stipelcovich in Ostrica, LA, who preceded him in death. He attended Buras High School and soon went into the boat business at the age of 22. During his career, his boats worked in the oilfield for the likes of Gulf, Chevron, and Helis. His life was his boats and spending time with his family. His passion was his first boat the Mr. Shane, Ostrica, and duck hunting. Gerald is survived by his only daughter Earline Barrois (Russell) and two grandsons Shane Srsen and William Barrois, Brother Calvin Hingle (Ann) and several nieces and nephews. Hewitt Gauthier, a cousin, that was more like a brother. Preceded in death by brother Donald Hingle. He will always be remembered as a man that gave of himself everything he could to those in need of a helping hand, a boxing guru, and a man that could carry a conversation with anyone willing to listen. Sister of Emma Venable Childers (Truman), Elvie Venable Guilbeaux (Easton), the late Duplex Venable (Doris), Evie Venable Harmon (Walter), Anna Mae Venable Fontenot, Laura Venable Guidry (Norbert), Sherry Venable Jones and Joseph Venable, Jr. aka as Joe (Lou). Daughter of the late Joseph S. Venable and Louise Duplechain Venable. She is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Saybel was born in Church Point, LA, graduated from Rayne High School and was a longtime resident of Port Sulphur, LA. She later graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans and taught at Port Sulphur High School and Belle Chasse High School. She and her beloved Noel were active in St. Cletus Knights of Columbus Council 8616 and the Ladies Auxiliary, where she held office. She was proud of her Cajun French heritage and was active in CODIFIL. While we will mourn her death let’s also celebrate her life and Heaven’s gain. Pauline M. Planchard passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the age of 101. Born July 23, 1917 to the late Steven and Marie Ballay in Pointe à la Hache, LA. She was the beloved wife of the late Amory Planchard for over twenty years, and is the cherished mother of Joseph Pumilia (Toni). Pauline leaves five grandchildren behind to cherish her memory, Randall, Stephen and Keith Pumilia, Jason Markey (Nataleigh) and the late Deborah Garner. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren. Joyce Hebert Liuzza went home to meet her Heavenly Father on April 2, 2019 at the age of 69. Beloved wife of Michael J. Liuzza for 42 years. Mother of Rose L. Olivier (Chad), Michael V. Liuzza, and Gina M. Liuzza. NaNa of Conrad, Cole, Christopher, and Charles “Max” Olivier. Daughter of the late John C. Hebert, Sr. and Loyce Hargis Hebert. Sister of Amanda Hebert Fourtunia, Allyson H. Lott and the late Claudia H. Tierney and John C. Hebert, Jr. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was a native of Algiers, and a resident of Belle Chasse, LA. Joyce graduated from Behrman High School and Eve’s Beauty College. She met her soulmate through their mutual love of music and they performed together as a duo across the country. She gave her unconditional devoted mother’s love to her three children and her grandbabies and loved her siblings dearly. She made lasting friendships through her years with the beauty shop and as an artist created treasures for her loved ones to cherish. Thomas Peter Popich of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, loving husband, father and PaPa, passed in peace on April 12, 2019 at the age of 96. He is survived by his wife, Minnie Lee, of 65 years, children Susan (Larry) Burbine, Charles (Shamiya) Popich, Alan Popich, Angela Popich Perkins, Laura (Henry) Patron, and Julie Popich Wascom, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister Gloria Sketchler, sister-in-law Tommie Lou (the late Joseph) Popich and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Nicholas and Annie Ragas Popich, brothers John and Joseph Popich, and sisters Annabelle O’Brien and Mary Mae Fazende. Thomas was born on October 19, 1922 and grew up in Buras, Louisiana with his parents and five siblings. He graduated from Buras High School and worked as an engine mechanic with Gulf Oil. Tom and his brother Joe each served four years as Staff Sergeants in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. His distinguished service as an aircraft mechanic and supervisor included combat flight missions with the 374th Bombardment Squadron 308th Bombardment Group in which Allied supplies were airlifted across “The Hump”, the route crossing the Himalayan foothills into China. After the war, as a descendent of Croatian citrus farmers and oyster fishermen, Tom had a business of trucking oysters and oranges to New Orleans and was even briefly an ambulance driver. In 1946 at the young age of 24, Tom was chosen by Queen Gloria Cvitanovich (Mrs. Drago Batinich) to serve as the first King of the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival. In 1958, Tom and Joe Popich founded Offshore Shipyard, a marine vessel repair and fabricating business, in Venice, Louisiana as well as Popich Brothers Water Transport, Inc., which successfully operated a large fleet of workboats and crewboats that serviced the oil and fishing industries for many decades. Other businesses included Popich Lands, Oyster Lands Leasing, Popich Brothers Superior Oysters and the Plaquemines Gazette. Thomas also served on the Board of Directors of Delta Bank and Trust. Thomas, Uncle Tom, PaPa, T-Tom, Moon, will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, self-made businessman, avid golfer and hunter, and distinguished World War II veteran. We would like to acknowledge all of the wonderful caregivers and staff at Our Lady of Wisdom for their loving support, comfort, and care of our Dad. A mass celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey with visitation from 9 to 11 AM. Lucrecia Maria Morales Salas was granted her angel wings on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the age of 97. She was born on April 1, 1922 in Granda, Nicaragua, and moved to New Orleans, LA at the age of 35. She became an American Citizen 64 years ago. She was a very spiritual woman and was very involved in her church’s activities. She will be truly missed by family, friends and everyone that knew her. Daughter of the late Francisco and Ermelinda Morales. Sister of Luisa Amanda Morales, Armando Morales and the late Juliana Morales, Vilma Morales, Raul Morales, Alonso Morales. Devoted aunt of Violeta Portobanco and Lucrecia Portobanco Pavon. Great aunt Susie Pavon, Lynda Munoz, Alicia Sosa. Great-Great aunt of Violeta Pavon, Plinio J. The Honorable Judge Herbert Gene “Mr. Marvelous” Williams, Jr. passed away on his birthday, Monday, April 8, 2019, at the age of 89. He was born on April 8, 1930 to the late Herbert Wesley “Honey” and Emma Othello Summers Williams. He was the first born of seven children. Mr. Williams . He was a 1947 graduate of Gilbert Academy, graduating early. Mr. Williams was actively employed with the Plaquemines Parish School Board as a bus driver, where he loved and cherished the children he encountered daily. He was the first black to be elected Justice of the Peace in 1997 in District 1 - Ward 2 of Plaquemines Parish where he served faithfully until his death. He also served actively for 53 years as a Mason with Bethlehem Lodge #237 and held the treasurer position for over 50 years. He was also a member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa’s Anthropos. Mr. Williams was a retired Volunteer Fireman for Pointe-a-la-Hache, LA. He was a faithful deacon at both, Bethlehem Judea African and Bethlehem Baptist Churches in Plaquemines Parish and served as deacon at every church he visited. He was abundantly loved and touched every life he crossed with his love and words of encouragement, thus, earning him the name “Mr. Marvelous”. Mr. Williams will forever be remembered by his children, Yvonne Ben, Jacqueline Lafrance of Anna, TX, Byron, Sr. (Wyona), Vernon, Sr. (Peggy), Othella (Leary, Sr.) Hughes and Pamela (Rev. Dr. Michael) Jiles; daughter-in-law, Constance Williams; his companion, Anna Davis; nineteen grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; siblings, Juliette Johnson and Emma Henderson of Los Angeles, CA, Reginald (Jerolie) Williams of Edmond, OK and Antoine Duplessis, Sr.; sisters and brother-in-law: Delores Pinkney, Adrene Williams, Bonnie Cross and Charles Nicholson, Jr.; Godchildren, Leeonise Smith and Patricia Thomas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Williams was welcomed into heaven by his parents, wife, Irma Ollie Cross Williams; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Victoria Cross; son, Herbert Terry Williams; son-in-law, Clarence “CJ” Ben, Jr.; grandson, Wesley Ben, Sr.; siblings, Eula Nicholson, Vernon and Raymond Williams, Sr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl Henderson, Joseph (Sedonia), Wilmer (Delores), Hicks (Verdell), Rev. Melvin Sr. (Octavia), Irvin and Yvonne Cross, Ezoria (Victor) and Ethel (Alfred) Encalade. Relatives and friends of the family; Pastor, Officers and members of Bethlehem Judea African, Bethlehem Baptist, and all neighboring Churches; Staff and Employees of Plaquemines Parish School Board, Justice of the Peace of Louisiana, Plaquemines Parish Government and Clerk of Court, St. Bernard Parish School Board, American Midstream and Conifer Health Solutions/LCMC attended the funeral and visitation. A Homegoing Service honoring Mr. Herbert Gene “Mr. Marvelous” Williams, Jr. was also held at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 111 Bethlehem Street, Dalcour, LA 70040 on Monday, April 15, 2019. Rev. On Tuesday April 9, 2019 Mr. Archie Augustus Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in New Orleans LA at the age of 87. He was born on February 28, 1932 in Phoenix LA to the late Henry and Josephine Williams Augustus. He was the husband of the late Audrey Williams Augustus. Beloved father of Archie Jr. (Stacey) and Carolyn “Cat” Augustus. Stepfather of Billy (Trinece) Dean, Willard (late Tammy) and Alfreda (Gary) LeBlanc. Brother of Mable B. Augustus and the late Henry, Julian, Joseph, Benjamin, Phillip, Josephine and Mary Augustus, Martha Riley, Dorothy Coleman and Jamie Smith. Grandfather of Kylan and Akia Barthelemy, Natacha (Teleo) Laury, Kendrick Williams, Akaila (Kenji) Green, Anya Augustus, Timothy (Denean) Brocks and Terione Brocks. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and devoted friends. Relatives and friends of the family, pastor, officers and members of St. Joseph Baptist Church and all neighboring churches attended the funeral service on Wednesday April 17, 2019 at St Joseph Baptist Church located at 156 St. Joseph Lane, Phoenix, LA.
