Philip Anthony Manichia

Philip Anthony Manichia passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the age of 62. Philip is preceded in death by his father Salvador Manichia, Jr.; brothers Salvador Manichia, III and John Vincent Manichia. Philip is survived by his mother MaryRose Manichia, loving father of Steven Manichia and Marissa Novakowski (Brett); granddaughter Alyssa Manichia and great grandson baby TJ. Brother of Paul Manichia (Barbara), Gina (Liz), Michael (Debbie) and Joni Beshel (Don). He is also survived and fondly remembered by a host of nieces and nephews; Cera, Mary and Joey Lane, Dylan Manichia, Desiree Molero (Nick) and great niece Lilly, William, Christian and godson Wesley Beshel. Philip was born on July 17, 1955 and was a native of Braithwaite, LA. He was a Master of ceramic tile and terrazzo and a retired member of the Ceramic Tile Layers and Terrazzo Workers - Local Union No. 67 in Chicago, IL. Philip enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved his animals. He also enjoyed watching Dodgers baseball games, and golfing. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who were touched by his love, kindness and friendship. A Celebration of Life was held at Assumption of Our Lady Mission Catholic Church, 6951 Hwy. 39, Braithwaite, LA on Saturday, October 14, 2017. The memorial mass had Father Michael Labre officiating. Chauvin Joseph “T Bean” Buras Sr. departed this life on Monday, October 16, 2017 at his home in Venice, LA surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old and was born in Buras, LA on September 9, 1941. “T-Bean” was a wellknown and respected cattleman in lower Plaquemines Parish and had a deep compassion for all animals. He was also a licensed taxidermist and enjoyed playing the saxophone for his friends and family. Son of the late Chauvin and Zelonie Ban Buras. Beloved father of Cynthia (Michael) Kent, Scott Simoneaux and Chauvin J. (Jan) Buras Jr. Brother of the late Ione (John) Ratcliff and Isabelle (Late Jimmy) Elliss. Grandfather of Katie Robertson, Michael Kent Jr., Peyton Simoneaux, Caitlynn, Chauvin III and Camdin Buras. Great grandfather of Ignatius Robertson Jr., Levi Kent and Presley Jones. Deceased also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. Relatives and friends of the family attended a visitation on Friday, October 20, 2017. A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Robinson Family Funeral Home (9611 Hwy 23 Belle Chasse, LA 70037). Entombment followed at Our Lady of Good Harbor Cemetery in Buras, LA.

Beloved father of Heather Duplessis Barthelemy. Father in law of Keeshawn Barthelemy, Sr. Grandfather of Jaleia, Jayla and Keeshawn Barthelemy, Jr. Brother of Donald Duplessis (Elaine), Elizabeth Barthelemy (Claude), Francis Barthelemy (Al), Judy DeMolle (Warren), Carol Duplessis (Lee), the late Olen Duplessis (Dera) and Juanita Barthelemy (Anthony). Also survived by his companion, Mathilda Smith as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends. Leon Joseph Fontenelle, Jr., age 80, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the age of 80. He was born on October 18, 1936 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was the son of the late Lydia Dragon Fontenelle and Leon J. Fontenelle, Sr.,. He was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice Macayan. Leon was a devoted brother of Lydia “Judy” Fontenelle of Pocatello who survives him and the late James Francis, Bernard Louis and Bettie June Fontenelle. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Guidroz Fontenelle and two nephews, John and Mark Fontenelle and niece, Mary Fontenelle, grand-niece and nephews, Sarah, Daniel, Jordan and Josh Fontenelle. Leon was a native of and lifelong resident and retired employee of Plaquemines Parish. Funeral services will be from St. Thomas Catholic Church. Interment will be the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in the spring.

He was born on May 21, 1939 In Harlem, La unto the union of Joesph Etienne Sr. and Edna Camel Etienne. He had 8 siblings. Arthur Etienne Sr., Joesph Etienne Jr, Edna Mae Griffin, the late Phylis Mae Etienne, Leona Picquet, Milton White, Ruth Sanders And Emelda Reddick. He was married on June 26, 1965 unto Anna Mae Picquet. unto their union, they were blessed with 2 children. Sabrina (Tyrone) Berry And Severin (Therentha Lynn) Etienne. He Was Blessed With 5 Grandchildren. Reandra Williams, Alexis Berry, Jerome Ratliff, Dai'qaun Ratliff, And Clyciara Smith. Two great-grandchildren London Williams and Bailey Tarrence. Seagle's sister-in-laws were Velma Duplessis and Peggy Picquet. They Late Juanita Etienne, Mildred Etienne, Augustine Marshall, Rev. Albertia Jackson, Melisha Bienemy, And Octavia Cross. His brother-in-laws were Calvin Griffin Sr., Irvin Picquet And Antoine Duplessis, the late Martin Sanders, Arthur Reddick Sr, Alton Marshall, and August Picquet Sr. He also had 2 god-children Yolanda Williamson and Danny Henry. Seagle was a faithful member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Pointe a La Hache, La. His favorite scripture was the 23rd psalms. His favorite song was Precious Lord. He loved music and to sing music. In his younger years, he sung gospel songs in a community group. Ga-Ga, a nickname created by his son and lovingly adopted by his family, attended school at St. Martin De Porrus Catholic School and Phoenix School. He was a true outdoorsman, who enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and fixing things he could get his hand on. He enjoyed collecting and repairing abandoned pedal bikes. He was a member in the Davant Hunting and Fishing Club. He was also a member of the Labor Union #689 since February 10, 1967. He was also known for sharing with the people of the community. Seagle is proceeded in death by his parents Joseph And Edna Etienne, his siblings Leona Picquet, Milton White, Ruth Sanders, Phylis Mae Etienne, And Emelda Reddick. Sister-In-Laws Juanita Etienne, Augustine Marshall, Rev. Albertia Jackson, Octavia Cross, And Mildred Etienne. His brother-in-laws Martin Sanders, Arthur Reddick Sr., Alton Marshall, and August Picquet Sr. A great grandson Denzel Marcel Tarrence Jr, and several beloved nieces and nephews. He leaves behind to cherish great memories, his devoted wife Anna, his children, grand-children, great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, brother and sister in laws, a host of nieces, nephews, a devoted friend and cousin Andrew Griffin and many other friends and cousins. Audrey David Seymour went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, November 4, 2017. Mrs. Seymour, formerly of New Iberia worked as a Customer Service representative for Bell Promanade Mall and Insurance Rep. for Sears. She was a member and Board member of the Church of the Nazarene in Belle Chase before attending Belle Chasse United Methodist Church. She has also served as a Den Mother, taught Bible school, and worked with children with disabilities at Padua House in Belle Chasse. She also loved to cook and tend to her garden and plants. She is survived by her husband Thomas Seymour, two sons (Mark and David Gonzales), two step daughters (Michelle Kaust and Tracy Seymour), brother (Wayne David), four grandchildren (Patrick, Kyle, and Kirsti Gonzales and Michelle Herbert), five great grandchildren (Timothy and Skyler Hurlbert, Xander and Scarlett Gonzales, and Rustyn Herbert) five step grandchildren (Cailyn Conrad, Tyler Morris, Amber and Stephanie Karst, and Dawn Marie Moore), and four step great grandchildren (Kilian, Jade, and Coral Morris and Sawyer Conrad). She is preceded in death by her parents (Raoul and Clara David), her grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. Alcea David and Mr. and Mrs. Ovey Viator, her former husband (Ernest Mark "DeDe" Gonzales, Sr.), two sisters (Sybil Meche and Nedral Desormeaux), and brother ("Teboy" David) of New Iberia, LA., and one step-daughter (Dawn Monahan) of Florida. Benjamin Jacob Bassett

Benjamin Jacob Bassett passed away at 8 a.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2017, due to complications from an aggressive form of brain cancer at the age of 31. Ben was born on September 30, 1986 and was a long-time resident of Belle Chasse, Louisiana. He graduated from Belle Chasse High School in 2004 and relocated to Shreveport years later. Ben had unique characteristics that made him special and loved by many. He was smart, quirky, funny, kind and gentle. Ben enjoyed hunting, cooking and spending time outdoors. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and endless supply of science facts and random trivia. He is survived by his father Robert M Bassett, his mother Chrissy Clausen Bassett, his sister Sarah Bassett Bordelon, his brother-inlaw Samuel Lee Bordelon, nephew Carter John Bordelon and niece Juliet Morgan Bordelon. Ben also leaves behind many heartbroken aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, especially his companion Mary Corbelle. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Carter and Charlene Bassett, his maternal grandparents Chris and Anais Clausen, and his cousin John “Teddy” Krieger. Family and friends attended a memorial service on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the OLPH Church in Belle Chasse. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Darla Cooper Allman of Judsonia passed away on November 28, 2017, at Unity Health in Searcy at the age of 66. She was born November 20, 1951 at Buras, Louisiana. She enjoyed being with family and talking on the phone with her brothers and sisters. She also was an Elvis fan and loved horses and cats. She was preceded in death by two infants, Jeanie Smith and Conley Smith Jr.; her father, Sam Cooper; and great grandson, Jaxon Smith. She married Tim Allman July 14, 1978, at New Orleans, Louisiana; he survives. She is also survived by a son, Jerrell Smith (Ashli) of Biscoe, Arkansas; mother, Mary Ann Morel of Buras, Louisiana; three brothers, Sam Cooper (Lynn) of Buras, Jan Graham (Regina) of Stringer, Mississippi, and Louis Franicevich (Marilyn) of Slidell, Louisiana; two sisters, Trishell Ramagos (Marshall) of Gonzales, Louisiana and Blanche Vodopija (Matt) of Buras; four grandchildren, Justin Smith (Kasey) of Searcy, Jared Smith (Morgan) of Judsonia, Jordon Smith (Jessica) of Judsonia, and Chloe Smith of Biscoe; two great grandchildren, Jacy and Carter of Judsonia; as well as numerous extended family and friends.  The family will have a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Biscoe with Brother David Rogers o ciating.

She was the devoted wife to the late Jerome “Cotton” Frisella, Sr. for 60 years. Caring mother to Jeanette M. Frisella (Howard Brower) and the late Captain Jerome A. Frisella, Jr. Loving grandmother to Charel Baldassaro (Octavio, Jr.), Angela Frisella, Jerome A. Frisella, III and Kristie Cooper (Darin). Proud great-grandmother to Vanessa and Jenna Baldassaro, Delilah and Khloe Williams and Gavin Cooper. Sister of Gertie Hintz, Dorothy Punch and Clovis Daigle, Jr. Preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude C. Daigle and Clovis C. Daigle, brothers James, Robert and Larry Daigle and sister Martha Nolan. Ruth’s hobbies included cooking and baking and playing bourre’ with her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed her great grandchildren to the fullest. No one ever went hungry while visiting Grandma Ruth’s house. Ruth was a native of Algiers and a resident of Belle Chasse for the past 48 years. She will be missed by all, but never forgotten. Fontenelle and daughter of the late George and Frederica Siede. Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert E. Step-grandfather of Mackenzie and Joel. Brother of Cindy and Casey Konrad. Gordon graduated from Loyola University School of Law. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney for Jeff erson Parish. Gordon went on to own and operate numerous businesses domestically and internationally, Belle Chasse Marine Transportation, Maxum Oil Service de Panama and served as a Director for the Bank of New Orleans. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed immensely. Nancy Phillips Machado entered the gates of heaven to be with our Lord on December 25, 2017 at the age of 65. Born in New Orleans, LA on March 15, 1952 to the late Maurice and Emelda Phillips, Nancy leaves many family members and friends behind to cherish her memory. Survived by her husband of 46 years Maxie Machado, four loving children; Valerie M. Winton, Gregory P. Machado (Shalena), Cheri L. Salinas (Jose), Jamie M. Williams (Markell), 17 grandchildren, three brothers; Maurice Phillips, Danny Phillips, Mark Phillips, four sisters; Rosina Phillippe, Miranda Phillippe, Ladonna Sylve, and Juliana Phillips. Nancy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nancy was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. A member of Grand Bayou’s Light Tabernacle Church, Nancy lived her life serving God faithfully, was adamant about her family serving God and was a witness to everyone about His goodness and mercy. Nancy was a resident of Grand Bayou, but also very much enjoyed her 15 years spent in Tennessee. Services were held at Exceleration Church located in Belle Chasse, LA officiated by Pastor Terry Bell. Family and friends attended the funeral service on Saturday, December 30, 2017. A wake was held on Friday, December 29, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Jose Ruben Garcia and her parents, Joe and Ella Ullo. She is the loving mother of Lynn Dube (Michael), Dr. Michael Garcia (Rhonda), David Garcia (Sherryn Adair), Ricardo Garcia (Beth) and Thomas Garcia (Kim). She is the devoted grandmother of Sandra Dube, Julia Garcia, Kyle Garcia (Tiffany), Joseph Garcia, Christine Garcia, Sean Garcia (Carley), Eric Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia, Alisa Garcia and Susie Garcia. She is the devoted great-grandmother of Sabene Garcia. She is the loving sister of Raymond Ullo. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A graduate of Holy Name of Jesus High School where she was honored to be valedictorian, she went on to continue her education at Loyola University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. Following her marriage to Ruben, they became residents of Belle Chasse where she joined him in their business, Garcia’s Pharmacy. Always proudly independent, Willie enjoyed reading and traveling, never missing an important event in her grandchildren’s lives. Forever passionate about her family, she particularly looked forward to Thursday dinner each week with her brother Ray. Willie will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends attended a visitation on Thursday, December 28, 2017 and continued on Friday, December 29, 2017 from with a Rosary following, all at Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey, LA. Anthony Joseph Bazile passed away on December 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Alma Bazile. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Hasselbeck Bazile, his son Mark Christopher Bazile (Dee Ann), grandchildren Marissa and Jack as well as his brothers Leonard (Charlotte), Ronald (Mary Ann) and Kerry (Cynthia). Anthony is survived by several nieces and nephews. He dearly loved his grandchildren and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was a native of Braithwaite, who relocated to Chalmette since Hurricane Isaac. He is retired from Plaquemines and Jefferson Parishes. Dr. Christian Anthony Clausen, III, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Chuluota, FL, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2018 at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Julia Bergeron Clausen for 55 years and the loving father of Christian A. Clausen, IV, Crystal C. Harmon (husband, Mo Harmon), and Christina Clausen (husband, Tim Gaur). Grandfather of Kayla L. Clausen, Anais M. Clausen, Ryan J. Harmon, Lauren M. Harmon, and the late PFC Christian A. Clausen, V. Brother to Carolyn Krieger (the late John), the late Robert Clausen (Carol), Charlene Clausen and Chrissy Bassett. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Son of the late Anais Heim Clausen and Christian Anthony Clausen, Jr. Dr. Clausen was a graduate of Belle Chasse High School, LSU and UNO. He was a professor of Chemistry and taught for 48 years at the University of Central Florida from 1969-2016. He had a passion for teaching and, as a mentor to many, will forever live on through the lives he touched. He also held several patents and was named Inventor of the Year in 2005 by NASA. Christian was an active member of the American Chemical Society. He also owned a consultant company, Scientific Specialists Consulting. He was an avid LSU fan and enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. To all knew him, he was an incredibly generous, loving man with a big heart. Relatives and friends of the family attended visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, January 6, 2018. A memorial service followed.
